Core Value: Evangelism

The Great Commission is a command for all believers, not just those who feel called to be Evangelists. Through the various Gospel accounts, Jesus commands His disciples to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” as well “make disciples” and teach “them to observe all things that I have commanded you”, which included this command to preach the Gospel. It’s the good news of salvation through Jesus! It’s the proclamation that “the kingdom of God has come near” (Luke 10:9). It’s an invitation to be sozo’d (saved, healed and delivered). Salvation includes a restoration of intimacy with God that we lost in the garden. Jesus’ death tore the veil for us to enter into the Presence of God through repentance, atoned and forgiven, washed in His blood. His Resurrection welcomes all of us into new Life.

When are we to preach the Gospel? Paul encouraged Timothy to “be ready in season and out of season” and Peter says to “always be ready to give a defense…for the hope.” That is one of the reasons we focus on being engaged in the community around us. Every neighborhood walk, errand or trip to the grocery store is an opportunity to share and bring the Kingdom of God. As we live our lives being sensitive to the Holy Spirit, we regularly experience an openness to hear about Jesus, receive prayer and/or respond to the Gospel message and accept Christ as Lord and Saviour.

Intentionality is very important. That is why we have partnered with CAYU to reach the youth of our community. We spend a few evenings a week at Incline Industries Skatepark and Youth Centre. Through our work there, we are able to share the Gospel with those who have never been exposed to it. We live out the Kingdom, showing them the love of God and share about the salvation Jesus has for them in both word and deed.

We live in Sylvan Lake, which is a tourist town that attracts thousands of visitors during the summer. Please pray for us as we are planning a Summer Beach Outreach to bring the Good News of Jesus to the lake.
